Q. Did anyone else have low blood pressure
when they were pregnant with a child
which has Moebius Syndrome? -Vicki McCarrell
A. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the part you had in about the low blood pressure. That was true for me as well while I was expecting Katie. We used to joke about it in the doctor’s office because it is usually high blood pressure you have to worry about while you are pregnant. I will pass this on to my daughter’s geneticist. -Barbara Kennedy, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
Q. Every placenta usually has 2 arteries
and 1 vein. My son had 1 of each. How many others may have
had this as it could have decreased the blood supply to the baby?
-Karen Preusser, Henderson, MN
Q. I am writing on behalf of an elderly
friend who I am amazed at the age of 68 has only just been diagnosed with
Moebius Syndrome. Are there any eye ointments, drops or cream she
could use to relieve her sore dry eyes? She has been using Lacrilube,
Liquifilm, tears naturale and an antibiotic called Chloriomycetin.
Her eye condition has been exacerbated by early cataracts and what
she calls +ACI-old age +ACI-.
Her eyes don’t close when she sleeps and she wakes with terribly sore
eyes.

Q. One time I heard someone talk about
a tint available for glasses to help people with overly sensitive eyes.
What is it? My glasses are tinted as dark as possible and I find
it still does not help.

A. When Sean was little he used red tinted sunglasses made by Corning. They block out the ultra violet rays and really helped him. You can get them special ordered from an optometrist - you may have to call several to find one who is familiar with them. -Vicki McCarrell
