From: P.DIPAOLO Hi William and Shelia - it has been a few years since we adopted Shaggy from you. I have to say there has never been a dull moment - only many happy and fun ones. Shaggy is always happy and ready for action. We jog and walk together. He is very helpful with our rescue cats - he helps me a lot with some of the special needs ones by comforting them and cleaning them even. We have an old tom in now - Zokay, he was badly losing every fight he had ever been in. The poor cat had such bad parasites he had scratched the hair off of his head, his ribs had been broken and healed in bad alignment, his tail also had been broken. His eyes leaked and two teeth were rotten and had to come out. Zokay went to the vet for vaccines, treatment of all his parasites, neutering, and dental work. These toms have been chased by dogs so that sometimes they are dog aggressive. Zokay would run and swipe at Shaggy if Shaggy happened to be walking near him. But Shaggy would just step back and sit and then try to avoid Zokay. Sometimes we would have to put Zokay in a crate to chill out a bit. Tonight I saw something amazing - Shaggy was giving Zokay some firm but gentle licks on his head and his ears with his big soft warm tongue. And Zokay was enjoying every minute of it. I think Shaggy is so innocent and sweet that he melted the heart of that old tom. If only people could learn from him. Shaggy weighs around 106 pounds and is not fat at all. He is a total joy! |
