The New Hope Beaders were founded in 2009, in response to the dire needs witnessed by Joyce Middleton during her first mission trip to East Africa through the Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation. Upon her return, Joyce developed a presentation and shared her experiences with several organizations. The Missionary Society of the North Buxton Community Church accepted her challenge and created an ongoing outreach program that connects with the women of Africa who work so hard to support their families.
JEWELRY MISSION . . . .
Our jewelry contains African beads purchased from women in Uganda, who create these lovely beads to support their families. Each bead is comprised of recycled paper strips made from various sources such as magazines, pamphlets, calendars and cereal boxes. The paper is rolled, glued and varnished.
CARD MISSION . . . .
In 2011, a line of custom made GREETING CARDS was introduced by founder Joyce Middleton. Many of the cards feature pictures from her recent trip to Africa, others contain photographes of local sites.
CREATIONS MISSION . . . .
In 2012, members chose to donate their sewing and knitting handiwork to assist with the mission. Each of our creations are made with pride and love for ALL God's children.
MISSION . . . .
All profit made from sales help support schools in Oldeani, Tanzania. Tanzania is plagued by AIDS and is one of five countries with the highest rate of AIDS in the world. Tanzania is faced with a death rate that is growing exponentially, leaving millions of children without families. These children are the living casualties of the AIDS epidemic. With neither parents nor homes, they are left to a life on the streets. Begging, searching through garbage and fighting for a scrap of food is their only means of survival. The Midabini and Meali Schools serve a population that is made up of the poorest of the poor. It feels even more so because the area is so dry and treeless. However, the parents are genuinely concerned about their kids and their education.
