During the 1970s and 1980s, creel censes were conducted on a regular basis to determine the status of Rondeau Bay's sport fishery. During the summer of 1997, the first creel census since 1986 was conducted. Fishermen at access points around the Bay were approached and requested to allow measurements (length, weight etc.) of their catch to be taken. This information will be summarized and analyzed using the Fishnet Program to determine the present status of the fishery. This information will also provide a baseline of information important to the long-term monitoring of the success of the RBWRP's Wetland Restoration Project.
