Re-Green Chatham-Kent offers native Carolinian trees and shrubs of local genetic stock to all residents of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. Orders may be placed for the spring 2000 planting season. There are no size limit on orders. This program is being offered due to the overwhelming response to the Carolinian Habitat Restoration Initiative, which is restricted to rural landowners in and around the Rondeau Bay watershed for non-landscaping purposes.
Each tree or shrub seedling costs $5.00, which includes our shipping, handling and cold storage costs. Each seedling is approximately 6 to 12 inches in height. Tree shelters, which protect the seedlings from girdling by rodents ($1.00 each), and Brush Blankets, which eliminate the need for herbicide use by keeping the weeds down (includes the staples) for $2.00 a piece, are also available for purchase.
Full payment (cash or cheque only) must be received before the order can be processed. The deadline to order for the spring 2000 planting season is March 1, 2000. Please note the earlier orders are received, the better chance that the species you want will be available.
The trees and shrubs will arrive about the middle of April 2000 and will be available to be picked up then. Each purchaser will be notified by mail when and where to pick up their trees. It will be the responsibility of the purchaser to pick up the trees within the allotted time.
