Malta covers just over 300 km² in land area, making it one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries. Its capital is Valletta and the largest town is Birkirkara. The main island is made up of many small towns, with a population of 368,250. The country has two official languages  Maltese and English  with Maltese being considered the national language. Throughout history, Malta's location has given it great strategic importance, and a sequence of powers including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Sicilians, Knights of St John, French and the British ruled the islands. Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic in 1974, whilst retaining membership in the Commonwealth of Nations. It is a member of the United Nations (since 1964) and a member of the European Union (since 2004). Malta is also party to the Schengen Agreement (since 2007) and member of the eurozone (since 2008). Malta has a long Christian legacy and is an Apostolic See. According to the Acts of the Apostles in the Christian Bible, St. Paul was shipwrecked on "Melite", as the Greeks called the island, and ministered there. Catholicism continues to be the official and dominant religion in Malta. Malta is internationally renowned as a tourist resort, with numerous recreational areas and historical monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most prominently the Megalithic Temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world. The Dali family spent their summers in Cadaques, and it is this landscape that appears over and over in the artist's work, either as background or as an integral part of the composition. Dali began his career as an enfant terrible in the schools of Figueras and then went to the School of Fine Arts in Madrid where he quickly learned the fundamentals of drawing. At this time, however, he was more interested in studying Freud and art magazines that specialized in Cubism, Futurism, and metaphysical art. In about 1928, he went to Paris, attached himself with passionate conviction to the French Surrealists and soon married Gala Eluard, former wife of the poet Paul Eluard, one of the founders of the movement. However, as Dali became absorbed in the study of Italian Renaissance painters, the French Surrealists rejected his style as too academic in technique and, thus, he left France for New York. Dali's work is distinguished by precise and finely executed draughtsmanship of almost photographic exactitude. Paint is applied smoothly and evenly in a varied and generally muted palette that occasionally breaks out into glaring color. His subject matter is that of the Freudian dream world and of metamorphosis of objects, people, and animals, arranged in unexpected and often inexplicable combinations. A prodigious worker, Dali has produced large quantities of paintings that include portraits, landscapes with figures, figures seemingly superimposed on landscapes, and, more recently, religious subjects. Visit You should read <a href="puznotes.html">this</a><p align="justify">On the beach we have all carried our pails and spades and laboriously built sand castles, only to have them washed away by the waves. These scenes bring back memories of those days but the difference is that these sand castles are works of art around the world. People of all sorts gather for world competition. Some are very intricate and the artists keep them up by spraying and continually touching up their masterpieces. Sand artists and Professional sand sculptors meet often in world wide contests. They have a variety of ways that they build and maintain their incredible fragile sand art pieces. Since sand is fragile and unstable the first thing some sand artists do is nail together wooden forms of different sizes, and shovel sand into the base of the form, add buckets of water, and use a tamper to pack the sand gradually until the wooden form is totally filled up. Once all the forms are completed and packed with sand the wooden parts are taken off slowly. Then they begin carving to create sand sculptures! Once a sculptor has finished one part of the sand creation, he or she will spray it with a mix of one third white glue and two thirds of water in order to coat the surface and stop any damage from rain, wind, or curious spectators! If a sand art form is in a competition it is judged on artistic criteria, verticality, cut throughs, overhangs, and narrowness. Fantasy sand art is usually the most popular theme because it includes various incredible pieces like mermaids, mythical beasts, cartoons, sci fi machines, aliens etc. In making Sand Sculptures one must remember that if too much water is added the water fills the spaces between the grains, breaking down the bridges and thus lowering the surface tension, resulting in the sand being able to flow more easily and the structure collapsing. I have read some place that the ideal ratio is eight parts dry sand to one part water. When the sand dries out or gets wet, the shape of a structure may change and "landslides" are common. Shovels and buckets are the main construction tool used in creating sand sand sculptures, although some people use only their hands. Water from the sea to mix with the sand can be brought to the building site with a bucket or other container. Sometimes other materials, such as pieces of wood, are added to reinforce structures. Some sandcastle artists are purists, using no artificial materials, formwork, coloring, adhesive or heavy machinery. However, in sand sculpting competitions, the rules often require that the finished sculpture be sprayed with a stabilizing coating that preserves it and allows the work to be properly judged and enjoyed by spectators. Coated sculptures can last for months.<br>The titles reflect my whims about what the sand art represents. He grew up in the rural city of Straelen on the western edge of Germany. His fascination with painting began in his childhood, with paintings of rural scenes of Straelen. He went to the high school in the neighboring town of Geldern, where an international competition of street painters took place. Inspired by the transitory works of art which met him on his way to school, Edgar Müller decided to enter the competition. He took part for the first time at the age of 16, going on to win the competition, aged 19, with a copy of the famous "Jesus at Emmaus " (Caravaggio). In the years that followed, he entered many other international competitions. Since 1998 Edgar Müller has held the title of 'maestro madonnari' (master street painter), born by only a few artists worldwide. The title is awarded at the world s largest street painting festival, called The Grazie Festival, which is held in the small pilgrim town of Grazie in Italy. Around the age of 25, Müller decided to devote himself completely to street painting. He travelled all over Europe, making a living with his transitory art. He gave workshops at schools and was a co-organizer and committee member for various street painting festivals. Müller set up the first (and so far only) Internet board for street painters in Germany - a forum designed to promote solidarity between German and International street painters. Edgar Müller opened a studio in the street. He presents people with the great works of old masters, drawing his perfect copies at the observers feet. Müller invites his audience to share his fascination with the old masters art, helping them to gain an in depth understanding of the old master s view of the world. Despite attending many courses with well-known artists and extensive studies in the field of communication design, Edgar is actually an autodidact. He is always looking for new forms through which to express himself. Inspired by three-dimensional illusion paintings (particularly by the works of Kurt Wenner and Julian Beever) he is now pursuing this new art form and creating his own style. Because of his grounding in traditional painting and modern communication, Müller uses a more simple and graphic language for his art. He paints over large areas of urban public life and gives them a new appearance, thereby challenging the perceptions of passers-by. The observer becomes a part of the new scenery offered. While going about their daily life, people change the painting's statement just by passing through the scene.
